Science center morphs to “Exploreum”
The SM Science Center has been “revamped” and converted to the “Exploreum” –which houses brand new interactive exhibits intended to take one on a tantalizing journey to knowledge and fun.
The Exploreum is for curious minds who would like to further explore the field of science. Through virtual reality simulations, optical illusions, a three-dimensional film, and detailed replicas, the venue offers a cool venue to stimulate one’s interest.
The eight main galleries of the Exploreum covers a wide range of topics related to life on earth and the fundamental nature of the cosmos.
“The Natural World” exhibit gives the guest an in-depth view on flora and fauna, carnivorous plants, the world’s smallest animal, and how insects communicate with each other. “The Human Adventure” will help guests understand the human brain and the different organs that make the body. “Zoom” explores all the most fascinating aspects of how humankind has flown, soared, chugged, and sped throughout the years.
“Connect” investigates all the ways we express ourselves – from written to spoken, symbolic to electronic, gestural to text. “Cyberville” is a one-of-a-kind hands-on gallery that features robots, solar-powered devices, and local inventions. The “Space Camp” is an out-of-this-world experience that lets one’s imagination soar as the guest explores meteorites, black holes, cosmic rays, and more. “The Living Earth” exhibit peels back time like layers of our earth’s core to reveal the origin we call home.
Also the largest planetarium in the Philippines, “The SM Exploratorium” is a 360-degree full dome theatre that will feature digital graphics and videos.
Aside from the eight exhibits, young scientists can experiment with the different properties of matter and machine work through the “Discovery Room.”
The “Science Park” is a learn-through-play’ space for kids and kids-at-heart where guests can sort through shapes, slides, sounds, and colors.
“Exploreum is a total immersion experience that will stimulate curiosity and inspire science learning in everyone by creating fun and memorable experiences because we value science as an indispensable tool for understanding our world and enriching people’s lives,” said Nicole Deato, assistant vice president for education and leisure center of SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. or SMLEI.
The SMLEI is the lifestyle and entertainment solutions arm of SM Prime Holdings, Inc.
The Exploreum is located at SM Mall of Asia and SM Lanang Premier. For more information, visit www.exploreum.ph
